SFD & Sustainability Efforts

With SFD, I wanted it to be something as sustainable as possible. From the production of the garments themselves to the screen printingn and embroidery. We currently source our garments from Everywhere apparel and ascolour. Everywhere is based here in the US, while ascolour is based out of New Zealand but does have warehouses and factories around the world. Everywhere and ascolour are commited to sustainability throughout their entire process. From not only and environmental aspect, but also from a social aspect.

I hope in the future for everything to be US made and produced. As we progress as a brand, so will our sustainability efforts. I hope to work with other brands that are located in the US, that are also commited to sustainability and creating quality garments. I really want SFD to have as minimal of an impact on the world & environment as possible. Having everything made and produced in the US will help with that goal.

On the screen printing end, everything is being done locally in Portland through Canary. Canary's operation is Climate Neutral Certified and offers Carbon Neutral Shipping. I'm beyond excited to be partnered with Canary as their sustainability efforts fall in line with what I am trying to create through SFD. All screen printing uses HSA inks, which are water-based inks. These are more environmentally friendly compared to plastisol inks. They contain fewer harmful chemicals and VOCs, resulting in lower emissions during printing. These water-based inks are non-toxic and can be cleaned up with water, eliminating the need for harsh solvents.

On my end, I'm doing everything to be as sustainable as possible. All SFD branded tags are stamped with non-toxic ink on recycled sunflower seed paper. All you need to do is plant the paper and watch some sunnies grow :)) Any and all orders shipping from Portland, are being shipped in fully compostable and recycled packaging.

If any of you lovely people have any ideas on ways to be more sustainable or just have any feedback, reach out to me via the contact form on the website or shoot me a DM. I'd love for SFD to have a community feel to it, and I think incorporating your voices and listening to y'all will give it that feel. You guys are a part of this just as much as I am.

Saving Water

Each Everywhere Apparel shirt is sustainably produced, meaning less impact on the environment. Just one shirt saves 850 gallons of water in comparison to traditional shirts. An average American uses 100 to 175 gallons of water per day, so that's like saving ~1 weeks worth of water per shirt made.

Carbon Impact

Everywhere Apparel's sustainable blanks are eco-friendly and minimize the impact on our world. Each shirt produced saves two pounds of carbon that would have been otherwise released into the atmosphere via traditional garments.

Microplastics

These recycled cotton garments that we print on, use no water in fiber production, no chemicals, dyes, or bleaching. CirCot™ diverts waste from landfills, reduces carbon footprint, and has no microplastics pollution.
