What is this shit?
What's good y'all, I'm Zach. Sunflower days, or SFD, is a Portland based streetwear brand created through the lens of wanting to wear quality clothes that I thought were cool & were sustainably produced. I was tired of wearing shit that wasn't made to last and was so expensive for poor quality stuff. Fuck, nobody should pay 60 bucks for a Gildan shirt. Plus knowing how bad those clothes really were for the environment, it pushed me to start my own thing. Something that tried to bridge the gap between "streetwear" & sustainability.
At SFD we source sustainably produced blanks. The screen printers we use also follow on this path of sustainability. Our goal at SFD is to create quality garments that don't have a detrimental impact on our world. We only get one Earth, there's no fucking it up and going back. I just want to be one of those people that tries to move the needle in the other direction, & I hope that with SFD that we can inspire a new wave of thinking, one that is mindful of the Earth we live on.
I want SFD to be about the people and the world. I want it to have that community feel where everyone is a part of the brand. I don't want this to just be about clothes, I want it to be something bigger. Where it brings people and communities together, where we help elevate others. Whether that's through community service or working with low income communities to build a community garden, or building rec centers, etc. SFD isn't about the money, this isn't a get rich quick scheme. I'm in this shit for the long run, I want to help people/communities and elevate them. This life that we live, is all about love. And what kind of life do we really live if we don't help those who don't have the resources to do so. Life isn't about the money or the fame or whatever the fuck, it's literally all about love. Without love what kind of life are we really living?
SFD is a transparent company. I have nothing to hide. As I said earlier, I'm not here to tax the fuck out of you guys and make millions. The cost of producing an SFD garment will be available for all to see. I'm not here to make a $60 t-shirt or +$100 hoodie. Whatever I make a garment for, there will be a minimal markup. That said I want to make good quality shit, stuff that will last a lifetime. None of this bullshit going on today with fast fashion and poorly made clothes. SFD aims to bring the best possible sustainable garments to the market.
Thank you all for being apart of this journey. I hope we can bring people together and shine a little bit of love onto people's lives.
